The ENVISION SYSTEMS, INC. COST OF TESTING Module provides management with a tool for measurement and comparison of the cost of performing a test.  

Using this system, the user defines on a department by department basis, those tests performed in the department.  

In order to operate the COST OF TESTING Module, the user must maintain through the system, those elements that are thought to make up the tests performed in a department. Elements can be Material, Labor or Overhead. The specific elements required by this system are:  

Specification on an item by item basis of the standard items that go into a test.  

Identification on an item by item basis of the expected unit cost of the item.  

Expected quantity on an item by item basis that are required to perform a test.
 

If the ENVISION SYSTEMS, INC. MATERIAL MANAGEMENT Modules (Inventory, Purchasing, Requisitioning, etc.) are in place, automatic analysis of actual usage is available.  If these modules are not in place, a feed from another system(s) is required to identify on a by department by item basis the quantity and dollars of usage for a month.  As a special feature, any items utilized by a department that are not specified for a test are uniformly spread to all of the tests performed by the department.  Actual labor and overhead values need to be entered into the system.  

The COST OF TESTING Module requires that on a monthly basis, the actual tests performed on a by department basis be fed to the system.  Whether the tests performed are actual tests performed or tests billed, is a management preference.
